Tools for 21st century discipleship

Tools for Discipleship

But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
To him be glory both now and forever! Amen. (2 Peter 3:18)

Salvation is not a one-time event, but a life-changing experience. The life of Christian discipleship is a wonderful adventure if we are willing to trust God to lead us. As we grow in deeper relationship with God, we are changed to be like Jesus and are empowered to change the world as a result (2 Cor 3:18; Jn 14:12).

As Christians, our mission is to know Christ and to make Christ known. However, living a life of Christian discipleship is not something that we can do in our own strength (John 15:5). Rather, the strength to do this comes from God (Ex 15:2). What we are called to do is deepen our relationship with God by withdrawing from the world to be strengthened and equipped and then living our lives out in the world. The Bible tells us many ways to deepen our relationship with God including prayer, Bible study, meditation, and seeking God's will in all that we do. Then, in turn, we can live the life of a Christian out in the real world, following the teachings of Jesus and being God's hands and feet in the world.

Abiding in Christ

Whether we are a local church or an individual Christian, we are all called to live a life of balanced Christian discipleship, both living in the world and focusing on the things of heaven. There are many tools available to help us in this process. CrossWalk Consulting was founded to support Christians in their walk with God by giving them tools to help them live the lives of disciples in the 21st century. The following is a list of articles on different discipleship tools that can help us as Christians deepen our relationship with God and live out our Christianity in the world. Each article discusses how to practice a time-proven, biblically-based tool of discipleship in the 21st century and presents links to further readings and other sites as appropriate.
